Who We Are

The Associated Teachers for Democracy in Vitória (PAD-Vix) group is a private law civil association that mobilizes in favor of the rights of its members, who are teachers in the municipal education network of Vitória-ES, as well as in defense of public, free, secular, and quality education for all.

PAD-Vix was founded in August 2018, in response to the need for teachers to organize in the face of the erosion of workers' rights and the deterioration of education in the municipality. The name PAD-Vix, for example, critically refers to a common practice in the administration of some mayors, who indiscriminately opened Disciplinary Administrative Proceedings (PADs) as a form of persecution against public servants.

With a strong presence in the defense of academic freedom, PAD-Vix also combats the negative financial impacts of the 2021 Pension Reform on retirees, among other struggles. Through ongoing dialogue with school communities, the association reaffirms its role in the collective pursuit of improvements and rights.

Therefore, PAD-Vix conceived the RED Magazine – Resistance, Education and Democracy – with the purpose of offering space for academic production, experience reports and cultural expressions. The journal is aimed at education workers, as well as all individuals who wish to share their knowledge and productions.
